iNav4U Cloud
Offline-first. The cloud is opt-in convenience, never authority.
The vessel is the system of record. iNav4U OS works fully offline — every mission-critical capability runs on the boat, with no dependency on internet connectivity. The cloud is what we add on top of that, when a connection is available.
iNav4U Cloud is the optional companion to iNav4U OS. It provides remote services and updates when a connection is available.
The principle is structural, not a fallback. A vessel running iNav4U OS does not need the cloud to function. When the cloud is reachable, it adds convenience. When it isn't, nothing onboard breaks.
What the cloud does
When a connection is available, iNav4U Cloud delivers:
- Software updates — secure, signed updates for iNav4U OS, its services and the frontends
- Remote notifications — critical events on the vessel can be delivered as email or SMS, so the owner stays informed even when not aboard
- Reference data sync — keeps onboard navigation charts, weather forecasts, tide tables, and currency rates current
- Secure remote services — for diagnostics, support, and authorized fleet operations

Why this matters
Most "connected boat" platforms are built cloud-first: the vessel is a thin client and the cloud is the brain. That model fails the moment the link drops, and it puts the boat owner's data on someone else's server by default.
iNav4U Cloud is built the other way around. The boat is the brain. The cloud is the helper. Everything important runs on the vessel, on hardware the owner controls. The cloud adds reach and remote services — but it never takes over.
