What Zora does when a route is active

Once you tap start, Zora sails the route with you. This is what it does without being asked. To start, stop and change a route, see Routes.

Where the route starts

Zora starts the route from where the boat is when you tap start, which is often not the first point. It picks the leg nearest the boat and makes the boat's position the start of that leg. It notes the time and place you started. If Zora has no position for the boat yet, the route starts at its first point.

To start somewhere else, tap that point in the route panel first. It turns green, and start (or restart, on a route already running) takes the boat straight toward it.

Moving on to the next point

You do not have to reach a point exactly. Zora moves on to the next one as the boat crosses the line that splits the angle between the leg you are on and the next, so the boat can cut the corner as you would. At a turn of 150° or more, it waits until the boat is abeam of the point.

The back and skip arrows on the route bar change the point by hand.

Warnings on the way

  • Before each point, Zora tells you it is coming, Waypoint in 5 min for example, as many minutes ahead as you set for the way the boat is moving: sailing, motor-sailing or motoring.
  • Off the track, it warns you when the boat leaves the corridor, You are outside the Trackperimeter, and tells you when it is back inside. It stays silent in the states you switched off, and always at anchor, on a mooring, at the dock and while racing.

Both are set in the route settings.

Arriving

The route ends when the boat comes within 100 m of the last point, or passes abeam of it, whichever comes first. Zora says Destination reached, stops the route by itself, and clears the message after 30 seconds.

The route also ends when you tell Zora the boat is anchored, moored or docked; see Vessel state.
