Your first Zora install
A full lesson for an installer doing this for the first time, from an unopened box to a boat with data on screen, is in development. Until it is written, work through the tutorials below in the order on What Setup covers.
Where to start
- Install the main unit: Main Unit V3 or Main Unit V2.
- Claim the device to the owner's cloud account, then reach Zora from a laptop or tablet.
- If the boat has fixed touchscreens, install the Mini PC once the main unit is online.
- Connect the equipment and add the boat's details, as the rest of the order sets out.
The first-install assistant
The first time Zora opens on a boat that has never been set up, it opens the first-install assistant in place of the chart. It asks, one page at a time:
- the boat's name
- its brand and model
- the boat type and hull type
- its MMSI
- which propellers have an engine, and a name for each engine
- the base currency the boat keeps its books in
Move between pages with the arrows at the bottom, or with the arrow keys and Enter on a keyboard. Paging saves nothing, so you can go back and change an answer.
Only the name and the base currency are required. Leave the MMSI blank if the boat has none; otherwise it must be nine digits. Select no propeller to skip the engines. Without internet the currency list is a short default list, and you can change the currency later in Settings.
On the last page, tap save settings. Zora stores the answers and opens.
