Trips & Stops ​

Zora keeps a record of every passage you make and every stop between them, with no need to start or stop anything. This screen is where you look back over them, rate them, and take a track home. To learn when a record begins and ends, see Trips and journeys.

Open the screen ​

Press SCREENS in the app bar, open the Journal tab and choose Trips & Stops.

The list ​

Each card is one record. A passage shows where it went from and to. A stop is anchored, moored or docked, and reads, for example, "anchored in" and the place. Each card also shows:

  • an icon for its kind, and your star rating
  • the flags of the countries it passed through, in the order it entered them
  • when it started and ended, its Duration and, for a passage, its Distance

The passage under way now has no end date and its duration is green. Its title shows what the boat is doing, and the card updates every 15 seconds.

The newest record comes first. The list shows up to 200 records at a time; use the period and the filters below to find older ones.

Choose the period ​

Period in the toolbar narrows the list to the records that started in it, the whole of its last day included, in the boat's time zone. It is the same period the Logbook uses, and Zora keeps it the next time you open the Journal.

  • Tap the dates to pick a range of months on the calendar.
  • The calendar button offers this month, last month, last 3 months, last 6 months, this year and last year.
  • The arrows either side step the period back or forward.

If the list reads No Trips Found, widen the period.

Filter and sort ​

Tap the button on the right edge of the screen to open the Trips panel.

  • Search: part of a name or place. Case and accents do not matter.
  • Countries: keeps the records that passed through any of the countries you choose.
  • Rating: At least the number of stars you tap.
  • Kind: Passages, Anchored, Moored or Docked, one at a time.
  • Sort: by Date, Duration, Distance or Rating, Ascending or Descending. The sort runs over your whole history.

Each filter you set shows as a chip below the panel. Close a chip to drop that filter, or tap Clear all filters.

Rate a passage ​

Tap a star on the card to rate the record from one to five. Tapping the stars does not open the card, and tapping the star already set does not clear it. Rate your best days, then filter on Rating to find them again.

Look at a record ​

Tap a card, or choose Open in its menu. The title reads "Trip from" one place "to" the other, "underway" for the passage in progress, or "Stop at" and the place. Close it with the cross at the top left.

The map shows the track, with a green marker where it started and a red one where it ended. With internet it uses an online street map; without, the chart on board.

Below the title are three tabs:

  • info: for a passage, Trip duration, then a Summary table with the distance, time and average speed for each navigation state (sailing, motoring and so on) and a Total row. Maxima gives the highest AWS, SOG and STW in knots. A value no instrument measured shows "-". For a stop, its kind and how long it lasted.
  • logs: the logbook for that record's time only. Tap an entry to mark where it was made on the map.
  • pictures: the pictures attached to that record's log entries, marked on the map. Tap one to see it full size, and show all to go back to the grid.

Replay a passage ​

The play button at the top right of the map replays the passage on 3D satellite imagery. It needs an internet connection; offline, it says so.

While it plays you see the navigation state, the engines running and the sails set, the Trip Log distance so far, and the wind. Drag the slider to jump to a moment.

Correct the place names ​

Zora names the places itself, and sometimes it has no name to give. To change them, long-press a card, or tap its three dots (or right-click it) and choose Edit.

Edit Trip has From and To. Edit Stop has At. Tap save.

Export a track ​

In the card's menu, choose Export, then GPX or KML.

Export Trip can thin out the track so the file stays small. Light is selected: it drops a point less than 50 m and less than 30 s from the last one kept. All Points keeps every recorded point, and Moderate and Aggressive thin it further. Advanced Settings has the finer controls; set a distance or a time to 0 to leave that one out. Export Points shows how many points the file will hold. Tap Export GPX or Export KML to save the file.

Hide a record ​

Choose Hide in the card's menu, or Hide Trip in its edit dialog. The record leaves the list; nothing is deleted. The passage under way cannot be hidden.

To see hidden records, tap the eye button in the toolbar. The list turns red. Choose Recover in a card's menu to bring it back, and tap the eye again to return to the normal list.
