Appearance

The app bar ​

The app bar runs along the top of every screen. Its buttons reach what you need from anywhere: screens, the log, notifications, the tools, emergency and help. Each one does one thing on a tap and often a second thing on a long-press.

The app bar

On a display 666 pixels wide or less, the app bar splits into two rows. Each screen can also use a small bar, with smaller buttons and no position; you choose full bar or small bar for a screen while you edit its layout. The buttons work the same way in all of them.

The Zora logo carries the software version under it.

  • Tap to open the app menu.
  • Long-press to bring the screen brightness up to 60%, if it has been dimmed below that.
  • Swipe right on it to set the brightness to full.

The app menu holds:

  • About..: this display's device and screen, the boat's IP number and MAC address, how long the server has been running, and its total and free memory. Tap License Agreement at the bottom to read the licence; I agree closes it.
  • Settings...: Zora's settings.
  • Get support...: send a message to the iNav4U team from inside Zora. See Get help.
  • Reload screen: reloads Zora on this display without restarting anything else.
  • Log Out: returns to the login screen. A running watch timer stops.

Screens ​

  • Tap SCREENS to open the screen selector and pick a screen. Its tabs are the screen groups: Navigation, Journal, Equipment and Custom. How Zora is laid out says what each is for: Navigation, Journal, Equipment and Custom.
  • Long-press to edit the layout of the screen you are on: add, remove and resize widgets and change their settings. On the Dynamic Navigation Screen you first choose which vessel state's layout to edit. On a screen whose layout is fixed, Zora says This layout is fixed and cannot be edited.

The top of the screen selector names the station in use.

To move between the screens of the group you are in, swipe left or right along the app bar. On a wide display, and when the app bar is in two rows, the arrows either side of the position do the same. Custom screens says how to choose which screens the swipe takes in.

Logbook ​

  • Tap LOGBOOK to open the logbook. The button then reads BACK: tap it again to go back to the screen you came from.
  • Double-tap to start a new log entry.
  • Long-press for the log menu: New Log Entry, Presets to manage your preset entries, and each preset entry. The menu closes by itself after 5 seconds.

The button flashes green when a new entry reaches the logbook.

User ​

The user button shows who is logged in on this display and the time, with local or UTC above it for the clock in use. While the watch timer runs, it shows the countdown instead of the name, turns orange, and turns red for the last ten seconds.

  • Tap to open the user drawer, with the station switch, the watch timer and a choice of Local or UTC for the clock on the button. See Stations.
  • Long-press to set the time zone.

Position ​

The boat's latitude and longitude, in the full app bar only. The position turns orange when the GPS is accurate to worse than 10 m, and red past 25 m. N/E means there is no position.

  • Tap for more, one tab each: Info (trip info), GPS Sat (the satellites in view), Sun/Moon, Weather and Tide.

Notifications ​

Its three circles light up when notifications are waiting: from left to right, one for information, one for warnings, one for alarms and emergencies. The ring around a circle is coloured when that level makes a sound.

  • Tap to open or close the list of notifications in the Tools panel. With none waiting, nothing opens.
  • Long-press to open the Notification Manager.

Tools and vessel state ​

The tools button is titled with what the boat is doing, such as SAILING, ANCHORED or MOTORSAIL, with tools under it. It blinks orange while the boat is drifting.

  • Tap to open the Tools panel on the tools for that state. Tap again to close it.
  • Long-press to open the Tools panel on its data tab.

Emergency ​

  • Tap EMERGENCY to open or close the emergency list in the Tools panel.

The button blinks once a mayday or pan-pan has been sent. When person overboard is active, a POB active button appears beside it. Tap it to go straight to the person overboard screen.

Help ​

  • Tap help to open Zora Help at the guide for the screen you are on. Its bar, screen and tools buttons open the guide for the app bar, the screen and the Tools panel. Tap close to go back.
  • Long-press to open Help Guide Update in the settings, where the guides are downloaded to the boat.

A badge on the button means the guides on this device need attention:

  • A red dot: the guides have not been downloaded to the boat yet.
  • An orange new: a newer version of the guides is available.
