external link ​

The external link widget brings a web page onto your screen. It either shows the page inside the tile, or shows a link you tap to open it. Use it for a device on board that has its own web page, or a website you check often.

Add it to a screen ​

In Edit Mode, open the interfaces group and tap external link. It arrives 4 columns wide and 2 rows high. Make it larger to show a page inside.

Set it up ​

Open the widget's settings. The INFO tab has:

  • source URL: the address of the page, starting with http:// or https://.
  • Label if not emebded: the text of the link.
  • embeded in widget: true shows the page inside the tile. false shows the label and an arrow, and a tap opens the page in a new browser window.

Apply saves the widget. Until you set it up, the tile shows a link named label.

Troubleshooting ​

  • The tile stays blank or shows an error: many websites refuse to be shown inside another page. Set embeded in widget to false and open the page instead.
  • A page on a device on board shows only while the display is on the same network as the device. A website needs internet.
  • On a screen with no browser tabs to go back with, prefer true: a page opened in a new window may leave you no way back to Zora.
