Network / TCP / UDP
The server joins the boat's network over Ethernet. Setup shows that as one connection, Network / TCP / UDP, however many Ethernet ports the server has. Through it, Zora sends NMEA 0183 to chart plotters, apps and other devices on the network, and reads NMEA 0183 from them.
Wire the server to the network
Each server has two Ethernet ports. One goes to the boat's router or switch. The other is kept for a network radar, and Zora reads the radar there and nowhere else.

The ports are on the front of Server V3, item 5 in the front view, and on the rear panel of Server V2 (rear view). To wire a radar, see RayNet radar.
Open the connection
- In the Setup app, open Connections & Sources, then the Connections tab.
- Tap Network / TCP / UDP. On Server V3 it is the first card under Zora-3 Server; on Server V2 it is under Serial & Network.
The dialog has three tabs: Input, Output and Sources.
Send NMEA 0183 to other devices
The Output tab has one switch, NMEA 0183 TCP Output. While it is on, Zora streams NMEA 0183 sentences on TCP port 10110, and any device on the boat network can read the boat's data from there. It is on as Zora ships.
To connect a plotter or an app, point it at the server's address on the boat network, port 10110, as a TCP client.
Read data from the network
The Input tab reads NMEA 0183 from devices on the network. Each device is one connection.
- Tap + to add a connection, then pick its Type:
- TCP Client: Zora connects to the device. Enter the device's Host (its address on the boat network) and the Port it sends on.
- UDP Listener: the device broadcasts. Enter the Port it sends to.
- TCP Server: the device connects to Zora on port 10110 and sends its sentences there. It needs NMEA 0183 TCP Output on, on the Output tab.
- Tap Save. It stays inactive until every connection has what its type needs.
- Go back to the Setup home screen and restart Zora from Back to Zora. The connection starts reading after the restart.
To remove a connection, tap its bin button and Save.
The Sources tab lists the devices heard on all the network connections. On the Connections tab, the Network / TCP / UDP card shows an NMEA0183 chip while any connection is on.
