Appearance

Assets ​

Assets is the list of everything on board, sorted into folders: the engine, the batteries, the sails, the life raft. Each piece of equipment is an item. An item keeps its details, its place on the boat, and, if it sends data, its link to that data. Its maintenance, logbook, documents and costs hang off it too.

Open Assets ​

Press SCREENS in the app bar, open the Equipment tab and choose Assets. Zora opens it where you left it earlier in the session.

The title button at the top left names the screen you are on. Tap it to move to another Equipment screen.

The top level holds nine folders: Home, Network, Steering, Emergencies, Engines, Sails & Rig, Deck, Electric and Tanks. What each one holds is listed in Equipment screens. Ethernet Devices and Wifi Devices under Network are not built yet.

Find your way ​

Tap a folder to open it. The line above the folders shows where you are: All, then one button for each folder on the way down.

  • Tap All to go back to the top level.
  • Tap a folder in the line for a list of that folder and the ones beside it, and choose where to go.
  • Long-press a folder in the line to go straight back to it.
  • The last button, with three dots, lists the folders inside the one you are in.

Folders ​

Double-tap a folder for its menu:

  • Open: the same as tapping it.
  • Edit: rename or delete it. Greyed out on the folders Zora comes with.
  • Logbook: a new logbook entry for that folder, on the Logs screen.
  • Document: a new document for it, on the Documents screen.
  • Finances: a new expense or income for it.
  • Reminder is greyed out.

Add a folder ​

You can add your own folders in Home, Emergencies and Deck, and inside a folder you made. Where you can, a plus button sits after the last folder.

  1. Tap the plus. Add new Group opens.
  2. Type a Title and tap save.

In Home, a folder you add holds more folders, and a folder inside that one holds items. In Deck, a folder you add holds items straight away.

Rename or delete a folder ​

Long-press one of your own folders, or choose Edit from its menu. Edit Group opens: change the Title and tap save.

The bin in its toolbar deletes the folder and everything in it: the items, their data, and their maintenance and task entries. Zora asks first; tap Yes Delete to go ahead. A folder that holds equipment Zora found on its own cannot be deleted.

Items ​

A folder of items shows them as cards, in alphabetical order.

Add an item ​

  1. Open the folder it belongs in, for example Electric, then Batteries.
  2. Tap the plus after the last card. The new item's editor opens on the Label tab.
  3. Type a Label. Every item needs one, and the other tabs stay greyed out until it has it.
  4. Check the Installation date. It starts at today.
  5. To use your own picture, tap change. default puts the folder's picture back.
  6. Tap save at the bottom.

If you close the editor before the item has a label, Zora throws the new item away.

Each tab saves on its own: make your changes, tap update at the bottom (or cancel), then move to the next tab. The buttons appear once you change something.

The editor's tabs ​

  • Label: the name, the installation date and the picture.

  • Info: Manufacturer, Model, Kind, Ref. Number and Notes. Add a property adds a field of your own, such as the firmware version. Details the device reports about itself are marked Reported by the device and cannot be changed.

  • Data link: which source of live data belongs to this item. Only for equipment that can send data, such as engines, batteries, chargers and tanks. See The data link.

  • Interface: the device's settings and the levels at which Zora notifies you. For batteries, chargers, DC-DC converters, inverters, solar panels and tanks, it needs a data link first. Engines and sails have one too, open as soon as the item has a label; see Engine and Sail.

    For a battery, choosing its Type and Nominal Voltage fills in the voltage and state of charge levels for that kind of battery. Change any of them before you tap Save. The levels you save start notifying straight away.

  • Location: where the item is on board, on the vessel map.

A battery or tank with a data link shows a live gauge on its card instead of a picture.

Work with an item ​

On a card:

  • Tap to open the item. Its page has Info, Maintenance, Documents, Logbook and Finances tabs. The cross on the left goes back to the folder.
  • Long-press to open the editor.
  • The dots open its menu: Open, Edit, Duplicate, and Add for a new Logbook entry, Document, Finances entry or Task. Task opens a new card for the item on the Tasks board.

Duplicate copies the item with its maintenance tasks and pictures, and opens the copy in the editor. Use it when you fit a second one of the same thing.

To delete an item, open the editor and tap the bin. That deletes its data and its maintenance tasks for good. Zora asks first, and suggests decommissioning instead.

Equipment Zora finds ​

Some equipment can join the list on its own. In the Propulsion, Autopilot, Digital Switches, Batteries, Inverters, Chargers and Solar Panels folders, a second round button under the plus scans for it.

  1. Switch on the one device you want to add: start the engine, wake the pilot.
  2. Open its folder and tap the scan button.

Zora answers with how many new items it added, that the device is already on your list, or No devices found. Nothing is added unless you scan. If you had already made an item for that one device by hand, the scan takes it over instead of adding a second one.

An item Zora found shows its name in colour. It cannot be deleted or duplicated; decommission it instead. If the device stops answering, its card is greyed over.

Decommission an item ​

When a piece of equipment leaves the boat, decommission it. The item and its history stay on the list.

  1. Open the item's editor on the Label tab. It needs an Installation date.
  2. Tap decommission item and choose the date. It must be after the installation date.
  3. Tap decommission, and Yes, decommission to confirm. To fit a replacement, tap duplicate first instead: Zora makes a copy for the new unit, then decommissions the old one on that date.
  4. Tap update.

Decommissioning cannot be undone. It removes the item's maintenance settings, stops counting its running hours, makes it read-only and takes it off the engine, sail and maintenance lists. Zora writes a log entry for it.

Decommissioned items are hidden. Tap decommissioned at the top of the folder to show them.
